Privacy policy.

Camera processing stays local. You control saving, exporting and sharing with a paired viewer.

This policy covers the current SceneLatch iPhone app developed by Ishan Madhusanka. The app is in development; this policy will be updated if the shipping version changes how information is handled.

Camera processing

When you explicitly start monitoring and grant camera permission, the app processes live frames on your iPhone using Apple Vision or a bundled Core ML model. It detects selected people and vehicle categories; it does not identify people or use face recognition. A short rolling buffer remains in memory to preserve the beginning of an event. Camera frames and detection results are not uploaded to the developer or an app-operated cloud service.

Event footage is silent. SceneLatch does not request microphone, location or photo-library access. Locking the phone, entering the background or a camera interruption stops monitoring.

Information stored locally

Saved video clips, their recording time, duration and detected object categories stay in the app's private storage. Your monitoring preferences are also saved locally. The app excludes its clip library from device backup. You can play, share or delete clips in Activity. Uninstalling the app removes its local storage.

Clips are retained until you delete them or remove the app. The app stops monitoring at its storage limits rather than automatically deleting earlier recordings. Interrupted files may remain for recovery or explicit deletion.

User-initiated sharing

The system share sheet lets you send a clip to another app, person or service of your choice. That destination receives the file and handles it according to its own practices. Deleting the original in SceneLatch does not delete copies you exported or shared.

Optional local camera sharing

When you enable Nearby sharing and allow Local Network access, the app uses local discovery and a private pairing link or QR code to connect to a viewer you choose on the same network. The paired viewer receives live video, activity and camera status, and device status such as battery level, charging, Low Power Mode and thermal state. A viewer may save or export footage through its available controls. There is no developer-hosted video relay.

Pairing links contain a session secret. Share them only with someone you trust, and stop sharing to end that session. Deleting footage on the camera does not remove copies a viewer has saved. The Mac viewer is an evaluation companion; its public distribution has not been announced.

Motion sensors, notifications and diagnostics

Phone-movement readings help distinguish camera movement from scene activity and are processed locally. Local notification permission is used for the monitoring-paused warning; no push-notification server is used. Capture and playback diagnostics are processed locally. If you explicitly export a diagnostic report, the destination you choose receives it. Review it before sharing.

Accounts, advertising and analytics

The current app has no user account, advertising, analytics SDK or tracking service. It does not send camera frames, clips or detection results to the developer. Apple handles App Store transactions and may provide sales or diagnostic information through its own services according to your Apple account and device settings.

Support messages

If you email support, your email address and the information you voluntarily provide are processed to respond to the request. Your and the recipient's email providers process the communication. Please avoid sending footage or information about other people unless you choose to share it and have permission. Contact the address below to ask about or request deletion of a support conversation.
